Space Networking
Aalyria
Aalyria was spun out of Alphabet in 2022, carrying with it nearly a decade of networking research originally developed inside Project Loon. Its flagship product, Spacetime, is a software-defined networking platform that orchestrates traffic across satellites, aircraft, ships, ground stations, and terrestrial mesh networks. The system was known internally at Google as Minkowski and was used to route connectivity between high-altitude balloons before being repurposed for a much wider range of moving nodes. The company focuses on stitching together non-terrestrial and terrestrial infrastructure so that operators can manage hybrid networks as a single fabric. Customers include telecom operators, defense agencies, and emerging space-based connectivity providers. A 2026 funding round led by Battery Ventures valued the company at roughly $1.3 billion.
